This past weekend Philadelphia hosted their very own Cherry Blossom Festival at Fairmount Park. We gather here to celebrate Japan and spring together. If you are planning on attending next year, prepare your picnic blankets, water, and some delicious snacks. I also recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes. Bringing your own portable radio, is also a great idea. And don’t forget to bring your pup!

Fairmount Park

Fairmount Park has over 9000 acres of land for you to discover. This park has lots of picnic areas and beautiful flora including Cherry Blossom Trees. There are plenty of reasons why you should visit this park. The best season to visit Fairmount park is the beginning of spring. Flowers begin to bloom, the heat is not unbearable and the breeze is perfect to nap your stress away.

I can give you so many reasons to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival. From, watching anime movies (you know I am a sucker for that) to learning how to play Shogi and Go. One simple excuse would be to just lay on a blanket, eat some delicious sushi or festival food and relax for the whole day.

The Festival runs from April 1-11, ending on a Sunday called Sakura Sunday. This is the main event and finale of the Festival and it is held at the Horticulture Center. Entrance tickets cost $15.
